Hi guys! Thanks for visiting my blog! I am a 53 year old nannee of 7, I live on a farm and I do a lot of things. My main focus these days is sewing and essential oils, but I work full time in real estate and at my age I have found it tough! Join my over 50 journey of returning to work and just life in general!
So I have come up with this new product, well it’s not a new idea, but it’s a new product for me. The idea was inspired by the mens equivalent of this product which is super boring, and I thought I am going to make some of these for women who love to garden! Sock savers were originally designed for men who work outdoors to stop dirt and prickles etc going into their socks and therefore, saving their wives a lot of angst! Sock savers or gaiters as we call them, are typically a khaki colored heavy denim which is super boring. I decided to make some super cute ones. Originally I wanted a heavier denim, but I couldn’t find any with cute patterns, but I managed to find some light denim fabric in the typical blue colors with really cute white designs. I love how they turned out, what do you think?
These are worn on the outside of your boot, over your sock like the bottom picture.
With all the craziness of trying to earn a living, dealing with kids and grandkids, farming, my needy mother, a demanding job and trying to study I rarely get the chance to just sit and relax and do one of the things I love most…..making gnomes! I bought a heap of the cutest gnome patterns off Etsy a few weeks back and I finally got to complete one. It’s not exactly the way the pattern goes but she still turned out awesome I reckon!
My photography skills are seriously lacking but how cute does she look!
Here is the link to the pattern if you guys want to try it out too! She has so many amazing patterns!
Well I gotta tell you that working 7 days a week most days and gardening don’t quite mix. I haven’t been into the vege garden for weeks now and it’s just a big hot mess. I went out there today because it annoys me that I put so much time, effort and money into getting the garden prepped and growing, to have it looking like it does now..
BUT….there is a silver lining to this mess…..
I GOT A HARVEST!! Can you even believe that these amazing veges were growing in amongst all those choking weeds! I even got some broccolini that I though had all gone to seed! The onions are from last year which is quite amazing, I didn’t realise they take so long to actually grow!
Makes me wonder if they would in fact grow better if we left them alone? Then again who wants a garden full of weeds?
My husband and I have decided that we are going to stop being terrible stewards of our money, buying take away every chance we get, eating so much junk food, way too much coke and not making food fro scratch. This has caused a huge amount of financial waste and it’s time we got serious about eating real food and stop wasting so much money that can be used for other things.
Today is Sunday, typically we would be in the car driving around, stopping for fast food and spending at least $50 every time we stop. I have a lot of zucchini in the house so instead of going out today, wasting fuel and food money, we have decided to stay home (saving fuel) and I have been baking to use some of the zucchini that needs to be eaten. I am so proud of us, normally we would duck into town for a pie and chocolate milk, but by me cooking lunch we have saved money and calories and stopped the waste of 2 zucchinis (many more in the garden). I have also made a zucchini bread and some peanut bisciuts but will post on them separately.
I found this recipe on The Whoot and it’s that good I have to share it with you guys! I forgot to take photos of my outcome and we have now eaten it lol!
It was super quick to make and we had it for lunch! So much better than bought food and way better for us!
I started making this crochet blanket for one of my grand daughters last winter and with only about 6 weeks to go until the weather starts to cool here I better get it finished. Besides that, I have 3 other blankets to make as well!
So over the course of the last month I have been on a pretty hectic diet. Menopause has put weight on me I am not loving and it’s time it comes off and not only that my health could do with a bit of an overhaul! So, I have been taking shakes, superfoods and pretty much little else! The detox process was hard and I didn’t actually get over it, the headaches were relentless and the hunger pains were like labor pains. All in all it was pretty crap! For the past 5 days I have gone back to my normal eating, but less of it, and more mindful of the amount of sugar we are eating. I will get back to my diet next week, but I will tweak it a bit, because I cannot do those detox headaches. I am going to do most of our food from scratch, instead of instant packet stuff we usually grab. But for today I felt like trying these cinnamon scrolls, I have never made them before, and apart from leaving the cling wrap on them while they cooked *rolls eyes, another menopause moment, they are pretty good!
So I am a really bad sleeper, have been for probably close on 30 years after my 3rd child was born, she literally didn’t sleep until she went to school, up at least 3 times a night and that’s how life went back then. Of course I didn’t know what I was doing back then so her not sleeping was just a normal part of life. However, it caused me to get into the habit of not sleeping and I have been tired and grumpy ever since LOL! Knowing that little bit of my lack of sleep history you will understand why menopause sleep disruptions aren’t really a problem for me but as I get older I am getting Lot more tired and frustrated that I just can’t go to bed and wake up the net morning.
So I decided to try my hand at handmade muesli this weekend. I was intending to do it on Monday and go Live into Facebook but of course I forgot about that and made it this morning! The other thing I didn’t do was take photos of the process….I suck at this blogging thing! Anyway it worked out really well and tastes pretty good and I am really happy with the outcome. If found this recipe online, which is where I find all my recipes lol! As follows;

So I was very spoilt this year for my birthday and among other things my daughters pitched in and got me a Nintendo Switch Lite!!! So stoked with it and my eldest son bought me the Animal Crossing Game. I am not sure I understand what to do with this game yet as I have only just started playing it but I am sure I will pick it up. At this stage I am building a campsite and picking up sticks for the campfire and a raccoon I think it is is giving the directions. You have to talk to other animals along the way as well. This is a multi player online game and I am going to connect with my daughter so she can tell me what to do! Another game that will connect you to your kids and grandkids!
I use this recipe all the time and I can testify to how easy it is to make and how delicious it is to eat. These days I want simple and tasty so I am always scouring the internet for recipes that suits those needs. I don’t own a cookbook at all, I find that Uncle Google gets me the best recipes that there are available.
Posting links to the recipes I have used also gives me the opportunity to share other peoples websites which means more traffic for them, it’s a win win!
