Wow have I missed this homesteading life. I have missed the home cooking, baking, gardening, fresh produce and my craft. The pursuit of happiness aka money, isn’t the pursuit of happiness at all, it’s a grind and a hard one. Our summer has been brutal and it’s been long, we are so ready for some cooler weather. As another year is finding it’s feet we are realising that age is starting to catch up with us with my husband turning 60 tomorrow, where have those years gone? How did we get to this age in a blink of an eye?
What we are starting to realise is the days when we said , “we have plenty of time for that” or “we will do that when we are older”, those days are HERE and we don’t have plenty of time for that. Working as much as we do has robbed us of a lot of that time, HOWEVER, it has enabled us to help our children and grandchildren with schooling, living, cars and anything they need that they can’t afford. As a parent in these times it is so important to support our kids because life is expensive, and increasingly stressful for the next generation.
My diet has been non existent with my weight gain becoming troublesome. My weight increasing to 100kgs which is incredibly embarrassing and soul destroying. I have never been this big in my life, however, access to fast food, drive thru coffee and Guzman Y Gomez has made dinner convenient, and we have become the take out kings. With only 2 of us home now it’s easy just to run to town and ‘grab something’. Don’t get me wrong, I do cook, but for some reason, my cooking has taken a sharp decline and nothing tastes that good anymore. Time to get back to the kitchen and make good wholesome meals. I bought a new book “What would Jesus Eat Cookbook” and gee it’s got some great recipes in it, so I will be trying a lot of these.
There is a lot to pick back up and it will no doubt take some time, but I am determined to get back to the things I love, manage my time better and create balance between working and the things I truly love. I am adding business tips as a category as well, to share some things I have learned along the way.
So thanks for being here, I have a lot of plans for the next year at ‘Nannee’s Place’.
